The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course is part of the series of NRA class courses designed for the public.  The course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.
This course is at least eight (8) hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.
Students learn:
  • NRA’s rules for safe gun handling
  • Pistol parts and operation
  • Ammunition
  • Shooting fundamentals
  • Range rules
  • Shooting from the bench rest and two-handed standing positions
  • Cleaning the pistol
  • Continued opportunities for skill development
Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and after passing a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, a course completion certificate.
Please read the information regarding the venue for this class.  Not all venues have facilities for meals or drinks so please bring any snacks and drinks you desire as well as a lunch/dinner meal.   All courses have working meal periods to make best use of the time and to provide as much instruction as possible.  Sin City Munitions will provide bottled water and snacks like pastries, doughnuts, and energy bars.
This course includes lessons taught on a live fire range.  Appropriate clothing and footwear is mandatory.
Shorts and/or short sleeved shirts may be worn during hot weather, however, Sin City Munitions strongly recommends wearing pants and long sleeved shirts.  Spent cartridges from pistols or rifles will be hot and may burn if they land on exposed skin.  Gloves are NOT permitted in any of the Basic courses.
No open-toed shoes, no sandals, and no women’s heeled shoes.  Eye and ear protection is mandatory.  Eyewear must wrap around the eyes and fit snug to the head.  Ear protection must have a large ear cup designed for extreme noise environment and maximum hearing protection.  Ear plugs alone are insufficient.
Eyewear and ear protection may be rented from Sin City Munitions.  Please inform us as soon as possible if you shall need to rent this equipment.
Students who do not arrive wearing appropriate clothing or footwear they will NOT be permitted to participate in the live fire lessons.  Live fire participation is necessary to successfully pass the course.

The largest skeet and sporting clay facility in southern Nevada, located at Area II just across the road from the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
